  • Explore how trauma and emotional stress, such as childhood abuse or systemic racism, can manifest as physical conditions, and learn strategies for integrating this awareness into your therapeutic approach.
  • Uncover the hidden links between trauma and destructive behaviors, and empower your clients by addressing the root causes rather than just the symptoms.

  • How often are we asked to park parts of ourselves away in specific environments/social constructs because they may not be welcome, heard, or understood? The power of agency and the opportunity to turn self-suppression into self-expression.

  • Also, how can I get in touch with Dr. Gabor Mate?
I am at my wit’s end as my daughter, smart professional, but has not been able to shake off the emotional pain and achieve “Agency” after years of in-patient and out-patient treatment and therapy. As I write this comment, earlier today, I picked her up from our local hospital where her brother took her to 3 days ago because she had been drinking alcohol for several days. Thanks.

  • Thanks for such an insightful and educational video. As a parent of an adult child who experienced trauma over 20 years ago and still using alcohol as a response to emotional pain and trauma, I find the video so informative, and I have shared it with my family. I wish I can have the video in my toolbox to listen to periodically and again and again. Please let me know.

  • Thank you Gabor
I interest in the level of possibility
    Amazing sharing
Very practical even for me who is not a therapist but one who needs therapy
    God bless

  • Importance of agency and that trauma is a normal response to an abnormal situation – well put! importance of reconnecting with disassociation emotions as part of the healing process – how important it is to confront childhood trauma sexual and emotional abuse – my 7 year old nephew hurt his finger – i
He required stiches however when I asked how he did it- he clammed up – I was worried about his suppression to talk about his injury- in part his repression due to tense relationships between his mother and myself – since my nephews birth my sister (a single mother) has engaged in a conflictual relationship with me- sadly thus has caused nephew to suppress his emotions- I’ve developed compassion with my sister – who is angry because broken relationship with her child’s father- my nephew has not seen father since early years – absolutely believe in compassion for mother (my sister) to move through conflict- particularly as I don’t want my nephew to disassociate from his feelings – any comments welcome Gabor?

  • Thank you, Gabor Mate, for a clear analysis and the hope, insights to the path of continue healing of the traumatic self.

  • I am totally blown away! Compassion of responsibility and the way it was presented showed so much love, honesty and kindness!!! Thank you so very, very much! Ingrid

    • I had the same issue when I used Safari, but then I tried Google Chrome and it didn’t require me to sign in! Hope that works for you 🙂

  • Hey I watched this amazing interview with Gabor but many of us could not afford to buy the whole package. I feel this is one do the lost important interviews I have ever heard and wanted to know it if will ever be released to the public, or on YouTube so we can share is with as many people as possible 🙏🏽

  • It’s really so enlightening this session, anger is a normal response, often is normal in our society, the mistake of separation of the mind and body in the medical world, the 5 levels of compassion and a lot I learned here. Thank you so much sir Gabor.
listening from Gombe state northeast Nigeria.

  • I feel the challenge to myself as therapist in the 5 levels of compassion. I avoid certain ones because it triggers my own trauma to the point that I am no longer able to stay with client and their work. Very very helpful revelation.

  • My seemingly abnormal response to a seemingly normal situation is in truth a normal response to an abnormal situation. Wow! This helped me a lot. Thank you as always Dr. Gabor Mate. Amazing!
