Bridie, Scotland

My name is Bridie and I work full-time as an adult, children and young persons counsellor in mental health. I work predominantly with adults who have complex trauma and other mental health difficulties including suicidal ideation. I trained in MSc Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy so I work theoretically from a variety of perspectives but the therapeutic relationship is the main aspect of my work because I work with clients that have experienced an imbalance of power in their lives and relationships, particularly those who have experienced abuse.
I’m passionate about CFT and draw on this approach often by offering safe place imagery and other self-soothing strategies. I’m passionate about working from an existential framework that includes narrative therapy theory and resources, because I find this way of working empowering for clients.
