  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this enriching, fascinating talk. It was very meaningfulfor me!

  • Thanks you very much for this talk which illuminated my day gave me more faith to teach mindfulness to health Care professionals

  • Direct and clear exposition of some of the neurological phenomenology accompanying compassion phenomena. Excellent response, and when asked, “Is compassion enough?” His answer listed his four pillars of well-being: Awareness, Connection (thru compassion), Insight about one’s narrative, and Purpose.

  • Blessings abundant on your steadfast, ever striving Dr Richard and what this brings to meet the heart of of the world.

  • This was so interesting! As a specialist in clinical neuropsychology I really enjoyed your lecture. It gave me new insights that will be helpful in my therapeutic work with clients.

  • This discussion/presentation hit on exactly what I needed today. I especially appreciated the points about the differences between compassion and empathy, that compassion is in fact sustainable when practiced appropriately and when we experience fatigue it is more likely “empathy fatigue”, and the conversation around the four pillars of wellbeing: awareness (mindfulness), connection (compassion), insight (curiosity driven investigation), and purpose (finding it in all that we do)!

  • Always a pleasure to hear Dr. Richie…wonderfully refreshing session. HMI APP is the only app that has helped me to learn to meditate. I hope many more people benefit through these summits…

  • It is such a blessing to have access to these incredible teachers. Thank you for providing this summit! I have also benefited greatly from the Healthy Minds app and recommend it to clinicians and clients all the time! Thank you Dr Davidson for your work as well!

  • So many lessons and so much wisdom in this talk…I hope all the goodness will spread like ripples in a pond throughout the world. Many thanks.

  • Love the stories and so timely for me today. especially the story of the broken leg and the Dalai Lama acknowledged that awareness with Sharon. It brought tears to my eyes when I have felt that need and once felt a surgeon’s empathy for me.

  • Thank you very much Dr. Davidson and Dr. Willard for providing all of us with a very insightful presentation about compassion…Namasté🙏

  • It was wonderful informative and practical presentation. I truly enjoyed moment by moment of watching this video. Thanks for the thoughtful and great questions

  • Thank you for taking us on this journey from your past to the present, your experiences with the Dalai Lama, the research studies, the framework to understand the plasticity of wellbeing, and the mindful practice.
I deeply appreciate how important it is to differentiate empathy from compassion and loving-kindness.

  • Such a beautiful talk. I too wondered about the livestream, but find the video allows me to go back and listen if I missed something I wanted to notate.

The meditation at the end of Dr. Davidson’s talk reminded me of Pema Chödròn’s writing about Tonglen meditation; a practice I hadn’t yet tried. I so enjoyed, not only removing someone’s suffering, but breathing love and well-being into them. For me, that seemed like a balanced, and important part.

One thought of my own following Dr. Davidson’s discussion about empathy, and how we activate the same regions in our brain that the person in pain is activating, is that as we live in a non-dualistic universe, when we pray, for instance using affirmative prayer, the person we are praying for, who is receptive to the prayer, even unconsciously – receives the healing. (Also, others, who are receptive, who we are not praying for specifically, can receive the benefit.)

Thank you so much for this wonderful and enlightening talk!

  • Very helpful. I see that when I started out as a therapist I was all empathy and was so exhausted by the end of the week that I stayed in for the weekend to recover. Compassion allows me to see that I can “be with” as I trust the other to share on the path of overcoming suffering.

  • great session! thank you as always Dr Davidson! and happy to have been introduced to Chris Willard whose work I am not yet familiar with but will certainly look into!

  • One more question – Are these Day 1 sessions not available live? I saw no link in my email. Only for the Tara Brach Keynote this afternoon.

    • Hello Deborah, your CE credits will become available directly after the event ends on April 25th. At that point you will be able to see detailed instructions in your membership library. You will take a short post assessment test and receive your certificate of completion to share with your accrediting body. You will have up to a year to claim your CE Credits at that time!
