Thank you for the reminder key of “Loving, Connected Presence”.
SPEECHLESS!!! Absolutely amazing!
Thank you SOOO much!!!!!!
Chris thank you for everything! I am appreciative for the way you have shared yourself and for the way you held us in this awesome process of learning!
Excellent conference. It has been so inspiring and also validating of so much of what I already do as a therapist. Thank you for making this wonderful teaching available to us all. You have put a lot of good into the world ❤️
I love this talk. Lots of great insights
I had to stop the video because right from the get go, both Bessel and Lucia shamed Chris Germer, (who on day 1, opened up and explained fear of shame had led to his inability to public speak) and here he is in front of people from all over the world being criticized for the way he posed two questions. I don’t see much compassion from these esteemed presenters at a Compassion Summit. I will go back to the video, once I work with my own empathic distress reaction and get some insight, for clearly this has triggered me. After scanning the comments, I may be alone here, but it is how I feel. Otherwise, brilliant conference.
I too noticed that. I also don’t understand the need for van der Kolk o underscore a competitive program of study- hey we know you got the stuff-that’s why you are presenting and we are learning!
They did react to his questions several times by objecting to his choice of words. Their work with the body is not “novel,” they are not “correcting” anything, “joy” is not a goal. But I think the choice of words to name things DOES matter, so I don’t think they are being pedantic, even if a little prickly. It seemed like Germer did feel he has to speak carefully, but he seemed experienced in dealing with difficult people (being a therapist…). But I did observe that many of the sessions showed speakers being excessively obsequious and deferential (to the degree that I had to click past those parts!), as if the need to deflect aggression is paramount among academics and professionals. So good looking out for that power struggle because it IS out there.
This was the most beautiful body centered meditation practice I have experienced. Thank you so much, Licia!
This wan an amazing and grounding video. Thank you so much. I feel so empowered.
Can´t say how inspiring and teaching these days have been for me. I am so grateful and send you all my best wishes from the south of Germany.

I was so happy to hear Licia suggest Continuum Movement to the woman with MS. As a Continuum teacher, I was wishing I could recommend it. I totally agree with what Licia said. I see Continuum as a somatic mindfulness practice, where it is possible to deepen our awareness while observing and allowing body movement, as well as awareness of the subtler sensations of vibrations of the sounding we do in Continuum. The practice can also help with trauma through supporting presence where there is shut down and calming the system where there is sympathetic activation. Thank you both for this excellent presentation!
Thank you deeply for this heartwarming conversation. Especially the guided meditation had a great impact on me. Thank you
Thank you everyone for a wonderful experience. I have learnt and felt so much that was meaningful and beautiful and helpful for me. I truly appreciate all of your generous contributions and the work you do to bring more compassion to this world.
I am in Kenya. I joined late yet i have followed the summit all through. This has been one of the most insightful conference i have participated in lately. It has opened many partways i can use compassion in my practice as a counselling psychologist.
I agree, absolutely. And also with a background in child & adolescent mental health the narrowing through DSM is a huge challenge. My first time to hear Licia. Such a richness I hope becomes some where at some level presented in health care training. Thank you.
What a phenomenal event. At such an important time in our history. Thank you all X
Thank you so much. This was such a beautiful sharing. Deeply insightful and healing.
Thank you for this beautiful meditation and in depth discussion.
Thank you for your knowledge.
Through this session I needed a break few times.
Because of my childhood trauma I needed the break.
I feel like Orphan for many years even when my parents are alive and no contact with my sisters.
So this session hit home.
Amazing, thank you.
Thank you for this amazing 5 Days of Knowledge and guidance. Rigo
This summit was amazing – one of the best I have attended. The topics were all current and the presenters were outstanding in their fields of expertise. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. I’ve just finished the book Body keeps score and this talk and practise was just beautiful. I’m learning.💖
Fantastic and amazing session really like Licia , example of stillness to learn from . So rich and informative sharing from both
Somehow unable to comment to Paul Gilbert’s session. This was so so practical and interesting and v inspiring on ‘compassion and wisdom’ tips . I love his humour which makes it so authentic. Thank you for your generosity in sharing
Many Thanks to the organisers for bringing such a plethora of eminent speakers to this free summit. Having a passion and deep interest in all of the above, being allowed to listen and learn has been such a gift.
In a nutshell:
Licia: Your own body is the script. Thank you
I cried all the way through this. I just felt so heard! I loved the way the way the neuroscience was explained and the comments about how your parts are always doing their best. That’s probably one of the most the most powerful practice I have ever done
Thank you for this amazing meditation, integration of mind body In-depth experience and observation.
Wonderful session!!
Thank you so much.
Deeply beautiful session… Licia you have a soothing voice that’s full of compassion and love. Bessel, you gave solid and profound suggestions on ways to heal. Thank you to both!
Thank you all for your collective understanding with trauma and the wisdom of body based practices. I feel our own journey as practitioners takes many years to embody theses practices and to be a compassionate and grounded caring practitioner. Also courageous at times to not be stuck in a one fits all therapy and include the whole tool box of years of working with people and learning from them.So no retiring yet Bessel and Licia. Thanks for being around and sharing. Love from Adelaide Australia .
In my training years ago a professor used the phrase “Islands of joy.” That resonated with me; I often use it with patients, and we work on finding (and noticing!) those islands (no matter how small).
Thank you for an inspiring session – a highlight of the summit for me.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend this summit (from New Zealand).
thanks, this is an amazing summit, I have enjoyed it, I am watching from So Cal, but practice in Idaho.
Wonderful summit. Very educational and inspiring. Thank you.
Wonderful summit and introduction to people’s work I didn’t know and now want to learn more about. A lot to catch up on. Suggestion perhaps to introduce a pause, congruent with its messages, in between blocks of presentations and/or days.
wonderful summit learn a lot thank you so much
Great talks, ideas and resources. Thank you
